Great device, easy to set up and to use. Customer service also very good. Prompt responses.
Absolutely love it. Had the regular Camp Chef dlx 24 that I have used for many years. I think it has finally given up on me. But I will not give up on it.
The purchased unit (order CC20808 ) arrived seriously dented on the main cooking chamber. I immediately sent an email explaining the issues with pictures. And received NO response. A few days later after hours on the phone I was able to speak to someone who said my case had been elevated to management to see if they can send me a replacement unit. That I would hear from camp chef soon. The week passed by and I received no formal reply to my original email claim nor received any type of communication even though I made a second email asking for an update.
Almost two weeks now.. I call on the phone on business hours and they have a message saying they are closed stating business hours. This is crazy. Horrible customer service and still waiting for a resolution as I have paid for a defective product which I can’t use.
This is my second Camp Chef Woodwind 24 and I really love it. There was a problem that I have addressed with the company and am waiting for their response. Would I buy another one? Definitely!
I hope once I can get the product running I enjoy it. There were incorrect screws so it couldn’t be put together when received. When I addressed this with customer service they acted like it didn’t matter because they had other more important people to work with. The customer service experience has really ruined the whole situation for me.
Thought I had ordered the pro version didn’t realize it until had legs on
After 9 years with a Woodwind, I figured it was time for a new improved one. I really like the new Sidekick Sear, the new control module, the increased space of the cooking chamber and the overall appearance. I am a bit perplexed however with the amount of smoke that was made at the lowest #1 seeing for smoke. I certainly did not have the same amount with my previous Woodwind. The first item I used the smoker for had such a heavy smoke flavor that it was inedible. Maybe this is something that gets better with time and usage. I hope so.
I wanted to love this grill because the cooking performance is actually very good. Unfortunately, my experience with Camp Chef's warranty and customer service completely changed my opinion of the company.
When the heating element failed under warranty, Camp Chef sent me a replacement part but provided no installation instructions. I spent hours attempting the repair, purchased screw extractors, penetrating oil, and other tools, only to discover that two factory-installed screws had stripped and could not be removed. At that point, installing the warranty part became impossible.
I contacted Camp Chef, explained in detail that the repair was no longer something a typical customer could complete, and asked for a technician or another warranty solution. Instead of addressing the actual problem, they simply shipped replacement screws—the very thing I had already explained would not help because the original screws were still stuck in the grill.
Despite repeatedly explaining the situation, they refused to send a technician or otherwise assist with the installation. My only option was to hire a repair technician at my own expense to complete what should have been a warranty repair.
A warranty isn't much of a warranty if the customer is expected to become a mechanic and pay out of pocket when the repair becomes impossible due to the product's design or factory hardware.
The grill cooks well, but ownership is about more than cooking performance. It's about how a company stands behind its products when something goes wrong. In my experience, Camp Chef's customer service focused on closing the ticket instead of solving the customer's problem. Additionally, this is my 2nd experience with a camp chef grill where the heating element failed. This seems to be a BIG problem they are unwilling to address.
I hope Camp Chef improves its warranty process because the products deserve better support than what I received.
Love my woodwind 24, with side kick and grill box for searing. I’ve been running this smoker weekly (year round) for about 6 years now. It’s been flawless, aside from having to replace all probes, one time. I would give 5 stars, except it does rust, quite a bit in Florida humidity.
I had an older woodwind that I had bought in 2021 and it stopped working earlier this year. My family bought me the new woodwind 24 and I don’t like how it now takes up to 45 minutes for it to come to temperature. It doesn’t matter if you set it for 225 or 325 it always goes 30 to 45 degrees over the set temperature and take at least 30 minutes to cool down. I used to be able to start cooking with 30 minutes, now it takes twice as long.
It arrived with a dent in the drum which causes a small gap in the door.
While we kept many of same features you’ve grown to adore like the full-color WIFI controller, Slide and Grill, the Pellet Purge—we wrapped the Woodwind in black lid with all stainless steel body.
Look who got a facelift! While we kept many of same features you’ve grown to adore like the full-color WIFI controller, Slide and Grill, the Pellet Purge—we wrapped the Woodwind in black lid with all stainless steel body. Easily connect to the Camp Chef Connect App to adjust temperatures, access historical cooking data, and receive push notifications straight to your phone. With the added Sidekick propane accessory—you’ll have the ability to cook a multitude of food items. And, when you’re ready to call it a day, clean-up is a piece of cake. Just pull the knob and the ashes empty directly into the removable ash cup. Whether it’s time to upgrade your current pellet grill or you’re a first time pellet grill owner, the Woodwind is a force to be reckoned with on the back patio.
